Classes limited to those 18 years of age or older.
Certain class sizes limited.
Cancellations subject to $10 fee after first class, unless the class is canceled by CLC.
Classes will be canceled two days prior to starting date if minimum enrollment is not met.

SP101B SPANISH II – ADVANCED BEGINNING

This class continues where Spanish I leaves off. It assumes the students’ only introduction and experience with Spanish is the beginning I class (10 weeks of Spanish). The focus of the class will be on conjugation of irregular present tense verbs and review of the ar/er/ir present tense verbs. Lexie Bennett is the instructor.(If you’ve had any college Spanish please sign up for Spanish III).

SP102 SPANISH III – INTERMEDIATE

This class is designed for students who have successfully completed CLC’s Spanish I & II level courses (24 weeks of class), or an equivalent level. Students should have a good working knowledge of beginning Spanish including conjugation of present tense verbs. Emphasis will be on practicing the language and improving fluency. The pace of this class will be determined by the students enrolled in the class. Instructor Mary Daline teaches Spanish at Dunn Elementary.

SP103 SPANISH IV – ADVANCED

This is the continuation of the Spanish III Intermediate class. Students should be able to conjugate verbs in the past tense (preterite and imperfect)and be able to hold short conversations. The future tense will be introduced as well as other elements of grammar and conversational Spanish to improve fluency. Students will also look into cultural aspects of the Spanish-speaking world. The pace of the class will be determined by the group of students taking the class.
Cecilie Haugen, PSD teacher and native speaker, will be the instructor.

SP104 BEGINNING JAPANESE

Learn basic conversational Japanese and some phrases for traveling. The
instructor will introduce you to various cultural materials (origami,
cook books, etc.) to help you learn Japanese in a fun way.
Junko Yasui is the instructor and is originally from Japan where she worked as a teacher for five years. She loves to share her culture.

This class is a continuation of Japanese I. Students should have some knowledge of hiragana and katakana. We will continue to increase vocabulary and learn basic kanji focusing on daily conversation and correct grammar. Instructor is Junko Yasui.

SP105 FRENCH I

Want to learn a little French? How to order food, get a room, buy something, greet people (politely), understand when a French person talks to you, know about French culture, food and their music? Learn “acquisition” of the language, through commands, as babies learn their first language. Learn then, to imitate - simple phrases, then sentences, then simple dialogues. Play games, sing songs, eat French pastries! Arla Squires will be your guide on this French adventure. She learned French by immersion at 15 when she went to school in France. She was the only American and learned the language within 3 months by listening and imitation. She graduated from CSU majoring in French nearly 30 years later.

If you've already taken my first class, or learned a bit of French at some time, and need a "refresher,” this is the class for you! We'll start with a review of things learned; verbs, vocabulary, numbers, phrases, commands, and then begin using this knowledge by slowly creating short dialogues and skits, and adding more vocabulary and verbs as we go. Your listening skills will improve and with practice, you will be able to have simple conversations with your friends, along with enjoying some French songs and food. SP106 SPANISH I BEGINNING

Learn Spanish using creative methods that foster a non-threatening classroom environment. Designed for beginners, these classes will build everyday conversational vocabulary and skills. Topics include: alphabet, numbers, pronunciation, adjectives, present tense regular verbs, basic sentence formation and vocabulary. We will move slowly with lots of repetition. Instructor Lexie Bennett will make this an enjoyable study by playing lots of games and interaction learning exercises.
